Course of Empire
In Course of Empire
history is illustrated as a manifold form, neither linear nor cyclical, but
rather unfolding and refolding in a convoluted mass. The labyrinth’s paper walls—some newly printed and others
segments from past work—are layered with personal and universal references that
are transcribed as words, symbols, images, and drawings. Each twist and turn in the structure
corresponds to a stage in the rise and fall of empires, reconfigured to reflect
the fractured nature of historical recollections.
