In Front of
Behind the Wall is a site-specific print installation Swainston made for
Site 92. Three long scrolls uncover the material underpinning of the
building by revealing the brick wall and columns that have been mostly obscured
by the white walls requisite for “gallery space.” The scrolls begin by
revealing brick columns, then cascade into a chaotic unraveling. The
cascades follow the column, but the structural pattern degenerates into an
abstract socio-architectural machination.
